Help! I lost reverse

Can I replace that ring or do I need to have the transmission rebuilt? And if that's not why I lost reverse why did I lose reverse?

Check adjustment on the reverse band. (I think that's the front one.)

Gotta pull the O/D unit to change the snap ring, however, that snap ring holds in a truly HEAVY duty spring.... something to the tune of 800lbs/inch...... so, need a press.

Yep i had snap ring pieces in my pan too..
I pulled the overdrive an put a used in it..not that difficult really..
But always look at that spring , i showed broken.if you pull the pan an have reverse issues..Look at solonoid an wiring too.



Adjust bands last.

Thanks everyone u have been very helpful. I'm just going to buy a rebuilt tranny and put it in.
