Can anyone tell me which cylinder in my 01 dakota is number 5? Ive never dealt with a specific plug needing to be replaced. Thanks

Hey Mr. Penny Pinchers, just replace them all. Don't worry about replacing just one of them.

Here's an easy way to remember.

If it's a 5.9L engine, it's second from the back on the driver's side.
If it's a 4.7L engine, then it's third one back on the left side.
If it's a 5.2L engine, it's just forward of cylinder number 7.
On a 3.9L engine, it's all the way back on the driver's side.
Lastly, on the 3.7L engine, it's opposite cylinder number 6.

Hope that clears it up for you.

smart-***. [&:]

What he's trying to say is that the driver's side is your ODD bank, passenger's side is your EVEN bank. Driver's side from front to back is 1,3,5,7, passenger's side front to back is 2, 4, 6, 8, etc.

I highly recommend picking up a copy of a Chilton's manual from your local auto parts store, or bookstore if they've got them. There's a ton of useful info for your average joe do it yourselfer. Frank Adkins wrote a book called "How to build high performance Chrysler engines" that's a good read too, lots of info on the different LA, Magnum, and big blocks along with some common aftermarket parts, and there's even a short section on the sixes.
