Default Front Driveshaft

Can I drive my 2004 Dakota 4wd without a front driveshaft until I fix the shaft?

Your front CV axle shaft should be what holds the front wheel on. Would not try it. Have broken my spine three times, had cancer as many times and certified disabled. Takes me about 90 minutes to swap one in my driveway and last NAPA/Moog I purchased (was a Saturday and truck had to roll Monday) was under $100 jobber price. NAPA, AutoZone, O'Reilly's all sell them with lifetime warranty but if by a Chinese unit from AutoZone or similar will be using that lifetime warranty about every six months to two years.

If able by a TrakMotive and be done with it but if can't wait do NAPA name brand instead of AutoZone or Advance. On occasion get parts from O'Reilly's (open on Sunday and trucks care not when they break) and having an account with them is nationwide so can get free delivery almost anywhere you break down. I replaced a Ram 2500 alternator on side of interstate in a suit and tie. Was the guest speaker at a church and was an hour from home and an hour from destination when it went down. Looked up closest O'Reilly's who delivered part to me in under twenty minutes and warrantied it when it smoked.

Shaft from t-case to front diff: Yes, you can drive without it. Axles from diff to front wheels? Nope. Those gotta be there, else you run the risk of your front tires separating from the truck. That just isn't any fun.

Ok thanks, I just want to take the front driveshaft from the transfer case to front diff out because I am changing the CV shaft and u-joint on the driveshaft itself.
