Default 02' Dodge Dakota Parts Cannon

I have a 2002 Dodge Dakota Sport 4.7L RWD, truck was brought brand new in late 2001 it has 140k miles with a new engine at 120k. This truck was babied with regular service throughout its life until about 2018 when Grandma stopped driving it. I took ownership of the truck in 2021, I ended up replacing a lot of the brake system (booster, calipers, pads, shoes/hardware, drums, cylinders, and master cylinder). Then drove it about 3,000 miles across the country with no hiccups.

About a month ago my wife said it would just randomly shut off and crank but no start. I did notice a "no bus" message figured it was time for the 4th ECM. Oddly, the truck will start and run fine sometimes giving us no issues then suddenly stop. I took the truck to the shop and they confirmed the ECM needed repair. I sent the computer off for repair and had the EPROM re-sodered to the board, the repair facility also verified everything was communicating as designed. After re-install the truck would start and idle, once you gave the truck throttle and backed off it would die. This stall was weird there was no sputtering just an instant off, I also noticed after this stall the check engine light would be cleared. My code reader would pick up no codes. When attempting to crank I would get a constant crank with no start unless I gave the truck throttle, once started it would die unless you gradually left off the throttle.

I got a code P050 and replaced the IAC. I checked the resistance on the TPS which was a little off so I replaced that as well and thoroughly cleaned the throttle body. I also got a code for lean bank 1. I get the "no bus" message randomly with multi-relays clicking, this clicking seemed indicative of a ADS shutdown for safety. I just finished running through the 5v reference to check for loss of voltage and resistance to the ground, everything checked out! I checked power to ECM which checks out as well. Today when the truck died I cycled the key 4-5 times to prime the pump and it started right back up. This would seem to point towards a fuel issue! I checked the 12-volt supply to the fuel pump and everything checked out there as well. Other than throwing parts at it, I am not sure where to go from here. I remember growing up in this truck and am blessed to do the same with my boys.

I had the exact same issue about 8 months ago. Except mines a '02 Dakota 3.9L V6. Go to O'reilly and get a new ECM. Install it but don't get it programmed. Let me know how it goes because that's what did the trick for me. When I got the first 2 ECMs programmed, it didn't seem to take. When I installed and cranked it up, I haven't had an issue since I plugged it in.

Just bought one today, we will have to see. Only one dealer in the area that can program it anyways. Really don't want to have to send it off
