Default Rear seal

Im replacing rear main seals an wondering if it would be a good idea to offset the 2 .It does say to by 3/8" on direction..felpro.
01 dak 3.9 6cyl

Any suggestions ..an is it best to use rtv Black on edges at ends of gaskers an on bearing cap before install.an oil on main inside of gaskets.?

An should i use a dab of rtv at mate surface of oil pump too?
thanks.
Pic is after pulling it an clean up
i noticed the 2 metal guides ,between holes, were able to move a bit too but not sure if that is a issue.

Look ok?

Finiahed it an set seals in 3/8 inch off center..as felpro packaging said.

Ran it 70 miles both highway an city - an still that pesky drip on flywheel casing ..
Old seal 2 years ago looked fine..
Im stumped
Changed valve cover gaskets an checked around oil sending unit....Newpan gasket also.
Any ideas ?
Maybe its coming from that opening in cap..arrows ?

That opening should be inside the oil pan when everything is assembled. Put some dye in your oil, drive it a couple days, then grab your UV flashlight, and funky orange glasses...

Bearings are completely contained within the pan, when you changed the rear seal, did you offset the parting lines for the seal, and bearing cap?

I offset the seals 3/8 inch. As felpro directions said..last were flat w cap.....what do u mean
Black rtv at flat areas of cap.. ..i didnt start it for 3 days but did have light coat of oil on seal an a dot of RTV on ends of seals.

So the sleves in pic cant be the issie? Since its fully inside pan right?

Yeah, the bearings don't have anything outside the pan. Its either the pan gasket, rear main seal, or the oil is running down from somewhere else.

I think tightening bolt to pan at end helped an i threw another oil pressure sensor on --mine almost came apart.I did see a tad of the dye near it but not much....

Can i leave the die in till next change. As i monitor any leaks?
An what is torque on oil pan 18 ftlb? Its at 17.5
thanks

Yeah, you can leave the dye in there, not a problem. I don't remember the torque value though.....
