Unfortunately, the 2nd gen Dakotas had a lot of running changes through the years. My '97 for instance uses a 1996 steering column. A/C parts are for 1st generation. These are different from 1998 and later parts. If the seller says it's for 2004 only, then it's probably an early '05 part put into production early. Where all have you been looking? Fleabay only? Rockauto? Local parts store?

There are a couple of fuel lines on your truck. Do you need the supply line or the return line. Why do you need a fuel line? Bad connector? Rodents chewed it?

Look at this part;

Yes, I know it's long but I'm old and don't feel like learning to trim listings.

This will require mechanical skills. Not a technician but a mechanic. It's not a difficult job though. I started out on jobs like this. One tip though, when you route the new line, add a piece of rubber hose over the line anywhere it will chafe on the frame or anything metal. This will prevent pin hole leaks down the road. I'd also go to the pet store and get some "Bitter Apple" and rub in it the nylon line. Mr. Rat won't gnaw on the line but once.

My father was based on the mountains in Hawaii in WW2. He mentioned a lot of unusual problems s living on the isles. He also found out the sun is gentler there. Grandfather was full blooded Cherokee. Dad would sun tan and be darker than the Hawaiians. After the war, he came home and found the atmosphere is thinner in Indiana and sun burned bad to the point of blisters

perfect solution, many thanks. Yeah I've been fixing things of all kinds my whole life, it was a lot easier back in the good old " made in USA " days. I'm shirtless and barefoot most of the time over here, dark as a coffee bean. I'm at elevation off grid in the jungle fixing up my little abode. Thanks again for taking the time to give me a hand. I'm not overly familiar with the islands. I tried driving out there one summer but flooded the carburetor on my pickup just past Los Angeles. Hopefully you are either away from the wildfires last summer or preferably on another island.

Never be afraid to tinker and try to fix things

The flash fire just ignited things. The real damage was things with lots of fuel, like cars and houses. I have a tree farm and we always worry about trespassers during a red flag burn ban. The biggest cost in the fires were the lives lost.
