blower fan and motor stops when I put dash together

I just replaced my blower fan and motor and it works fine until I put the dash back together and it just has a high pitch whine. What could cause the issue

When you say "put the dash together", what do you mean?
Dash does not need to come apart to change the blower motor. It's just three 8mm bolts on the motor itself.
