Default 1999 Dodge Dakota

Just replaced my sons shift solenoid- part number OEM / Interchange Numbers: 4798221, 52118485, 52118500
STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTSTCS45
and his transmission filter. Now when he is driving it he running around 3500-4000 RPM's. Is this normal?
Here is his VIN number-1B7GG22Y3XS295764
5.2L 4x4

Theoretically, that is the correct part, but, doesn't seem like it is working properly..... Is the CEL on? Getting any codes?? If the truck is basically stock, he should be right in the neighborhood of 2K RPM at 60-65 mph.

I checked his CEL and this was the code
P0743. TCC Solenoid Circuit
Replace the Transmission control relay

If the relay wasn't working, the trans wouldn't shift at all.... and you would have several more codes as well.

What's your TV cable looking like? If its really loose you will have late shifts and possibly not get high enough pressure to get 4th gear. The cable should have no slack with the throttle plate closed but only just barely.
