Hi guys, I have a 2001 Dakota sport, Not throwing any codes and fluid level full, when I drive it I noticed its shifts into second a tad harsh and aliitle above 2k rpm which it normally shifted into second before 2k. and of course won't upshift into 3rd or 4th. Could this be the shift soleniod ? or some short of sensor? any ideas what to check?

 

Could a bad shift solenoid not throw a code?

 

Maybe..... There are more failure modes than the PCM can account for.... Generally though, if the computer asks for something, and it doesn't happen, it will whine about it. If it isn't, then the question becomes, is it actually ASKING for that to happen, and if not, why not???

 

ty hey you Going to try some simple things first, like changing oil and filters before I commit to a shift solenoid.
