Default Adding LED exterior running board lights

Hey everyone,
I have a 1998 Dakota slt with no exterior lighting on my running boards. Added an aftermarket light strip that wires in w my parking lights, and turns signals (amber colored), and a curtesy light that wires in with my door switch/interior lights (white). I can only find wires going up my drivers side A pillar and diagrams show yellow, pink and black to my map lights and pink and yellow to dome. When I tap the yellow wire, I get power to the white light functions, but they work opposite. They turn on when I lock and close the door, off when I unlock or open door. Pink wire gives no power. Other funtions of the amber ligts work perfectly. Is there a different wire color I should be looking for?

I'm willing to bet the pink is a ground. Take your meter from a known 12V source to that pink wire and see if it behaves how you think it should.

Another scenario, dodge wires all bodies the same, but some circuits are not used for base/midline models. It's possible that pink wire is not connected to anything for your platform. But being an SLT, I find that somewhat unlikely.

Things changed alot across 2000. But my 01 FSM shows that a pink wire supplies constant power to the Dome Light, Center Console Lamp, and Cargo Lamps.

The CTM grounds the Cargo Lamps using a Pink with Dark Blue Stripe, "Cargo Lamp Driver" circuit.
The CTM Grounds the Center Console Lamp and one filament of the Dome Lamp via Yellow with Violet Stripe, "Interior Lamp Driver" circuit.
The CTM Grounds one filament of the Done Lamp via a Solid Yellow, "Courtesy Lamp Driver" circuit.
