Need help with wires for connector on neutral safety switch.
We had to replace both the Neutral safety switch and connector for our 2003 dodge dakota. but the new connector came with all white wires while the part it connects to under the truck has 5 different colored wires. Can't find anything about what to wires are for or how to connect them to the new connector. New connector piece.
any advice would be much appreciated.
Connect them in the same order they are on the original connector. Look at the wire coming from the connector, attach the wire in that position to the correct color wire on the harness side.

the original connector is off already so we could get a new connector and we didn't see how it was connected before.

Transmission Range Sensor (3.9/5.9 AT). Page 8W-80-73
Pin 1: 18 AWG Brown with Light Green Stripe (Ignition Power)
Pin 2: 20 AWG White with Light Green Stripe (Signal Mux)
Pin 3: Empty Cavity
Pin 4: 18 AWG Violet with Black Stripe (Reverse Lamps Ground)
Pin 5: 20 AWG Dark Green with Gray Stripe (5 Volt Sensor Supply)
Pin 6: 18 AWG Black with White Stripe (Park/Neutral Safety Sense)
When making the repair, the connections should be soldered and heatshrinked, ideally with the adhesive-lined heatshrink. Because of how the mux signal works, any significant change in system resistance can cause the PCM to think the shifter is in the wrong position.
