Default Radio not working

Hello all, I have a 2000 Dakota, my radio hasn’t worked since I bought it because the wires were bad. I ended up taking the radio out and it sat on a shelf for months. I replaced the wires yesterday but now the radio does not seem to be receiving power, there is no backlight and the tape deck doesn’t make noises like it used to. In addition to that the passenger door speaker makes a rhythmic, fast thumping noise when the radio is switched on but changing the volume doesn't affect the level of noise. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Probably got a couple wires crossed. You can find wiring diagrams here. Have a look, see what ya got.
