Question 4.7l engine rhythmic tapping

After warmup a rhythmic tapping sound is there. Sound is louder on the passenger side. Ideas on source? This is a 2000 Dakota 4.7l

Valve train noise. Need to pull the valve cover on the noisy side, and see whats up. May have tossed a rocker, or have a collapsed lifter.

I dont think its coming from the heads as they are new and I did check anyway the lifters and rockers are all working well also. All front end timing parts also new. When turning the engine by hand there are no knock or tapping sounds.

Really hard to diagnose from a video..... If that ISN'T rocker noise, and you are SURE it isn't, get yourself a mechanics stethoscope, and see if you can localize where the noise is coming from. Only so many moving parts in there that will do that....

New does not mean good...., I've wasted a lot of hours diagnosing "new" parts

also new heads would not include new lifters, rockers or cam shafts.

If the timing set is new, lots of room for error there, did a guide come loose, tensioner go bad, did the lock pins get pulled on the tensioner, did the noise start immediately after these repairs or how many miles later? pull the camshaft sensor and check for metal filings

take the belt off, shake down the water pump, a/c.power steering, alternator, idlers, tensioners

Have a stethoscope and sound is definitely coming from the mid to rear passenger side lower block. Which leads me to suspect; rod bearing. Had the pan off recently and did check rods for play and found no play but next round ill follow this advise:

"pro tip, tap on the bottom of the rod cap while the piston is at the top of its stroke, you'll hear which of the rods are loose."

and solution

"A little emery cloth on the crankshaft journals and pop new bearings in"

Ofc I will also take measurements of the journals and bearings to verity tolerance is within range

Could be a pre cat coming apart. I have that happening currently and the noise sounds like a rod knock, but it is definitely the cat. BTW, does anyone have a driver's side pre-cat they are not using? Thx.
