I have a 2002 Dakota SXT w/3.9L V-6. I bought a remanufactured throttle body from RockAuto for a 5.9L V-8, because I recently discovered that's a mod you can fairly easily perform, and I'm going to install that on my truck. I know you have to change the throttle and cruise-control cables to the 5.9L cables in order to use the 5.9L throttle body on the 3.9L (and, I thought I was buying both the correct cables from someone else I got in contact with through a different Dakota forum, but apparently I've been scammed out of $150 - but, that's a whole other story). I know of several sellers on eBay selling new (not OEM; made by Pioneer) throttle cables for the 5.9L, but am having trouble finding the cruise-control cable. I've just done a quick search of Pull-A-Parts/Pull-N Saves near me, but they only seem to have 4.7L/3.9L Dakotas/Durangos.

So, I have questions:

1. Is it just the cable for the cruise-control that's different between the engines, or is the servo itself also different?

2. Does anyone have a 5.9L cruise-control cable they'd be willing to part with?

Really, the only reason I'm going through all this trouble is because there's something wrong with the throttle cable on my 3.9L - it feels very hard to press the pedal down, most of the time - and I can't find a source anywhere for a new cable (prefer new for the throttle cable, not used) for that engine.

Servo is likely exactly the same. If there IS a difference in the cables, it's probably just the length, or, the way it clips onto the throttle linkage.

 

I've got a couple 5.9s, one is a 2001 Dakota, I cannot verify it works but I would be fair on price, and I would refund if there is any issues
