Default Bypass/Turn off AC

I have a 2003 Dakota with the 3.9L 2WD regular cab and ive noticed while driving that the compressor is kicking on every 20-30 seconds or so. Im assuming that the freon is low but when the compressor does kick on, its kinda loud. Ive never used the AC (I dont know if it even works) since Ive had the truck which i got in 2018. This truck is just to go back and forth to work which is a 15 minute drive. Would it be safe just to pull the AC's compressor clutch relay so it wont kick on? Its only kinda loud when its kicked on and the sound goes away as soon as it kicks off.

Thanks

Just unplug the connector at the compressor. Voila! It's disabled.

Im guessing its a single wire thats on the compressor itself or is it a wire harness ?

its a great short term solution, however I would source a non a/c fan belt and swap it out at your earliest convenience, my dads a/c had been dead for years, but the compressor clutch recently decided to lockup and shred the fan belt

You wouldnt happen to know the number for the belt off hand would you? I know at autozone, Rockauto and Advance has it as 88.5 (Dayco 5070885) but from what ive been reading on here and other forums, its too short. My guess is that their websites have it listed as 'without ac' meaning the truck didnt come with ac and not meant as a bypass belt...just my guess though

I don't, you didn't mention which engine, however you are correct in a sense it is for a vehicle that did not ever have a/c. Though on a Cummins its a simple swap of the tensioner mounting location to re route the belt around the the compressor. I'm not familiar with the routing on a 4.7/5.9/3.9L or whatever engine you have
