hello, i have a 2002 dodge dakota slt extended/club cab 4.7 and my alternator is on its way out. After some scanning of the internet and parts sites it looks like an alternator from a 2003 jeep liberty 3.7 is the same and will also fit my truck. i just happen to have a 2003 liberty with a blow head gasket sitting in my driveway and i wanted to see if anybody has any idea if they are the same and if i can use it instead of dropping any more money in it than i already have the past couple months. Both are the 136 amp alternators with the oval plug.

 

Check the mounting method, electrical connectors, and pulley. If they match, it'll bolt right in.

 

You can also cross reference the part #.

 

go to rockauto.com and compare the p/n's of both 4.7 & 3.7 alternators...

 

It will fit. Here is a compatibility chart from Ebay. OE used Denso part will last you longer than any parts store junk with 1-2 yr life expectancy. I'm still running mine which I picked from a u-pull-it years back. My truck is 03 Dakota 4.7L. I forget what I pulled it out of.
