Default This thing is about to go to the junkyard....

I ended up giving up on those stupid straight rubber bushings and got a new control arm.

i put everything together and now I am stuck with this mess. It's like the Torsion is doing NOTHING. I have tried everything. Different key, placing the key at different angles, all different adjusting to it. I truly don't understand what is going on with this thing. Every time I drop it, it goes all the way down. Ignore the tire, it is the spare wheel. I have to go get a tire swapped onto this wheel as I had to cut the old wheel off. There was nothing wrong with the ride height previous to tear down.

Back story is that I had a broken caliper guide pin. It had stripped itself out of the spindle. I went to remove the wheel to fix it and two lugs had been put on so tight by the P/O that they had welded themselves to the rim essentially. So I cut it off. Replaced the spindle with a good junkyard one, replaced all parts behind it. The torsion bar had to be removed with the lower control arm because it had rust welded itself to the control arm. I was able to cut the old control arm off.

So what gives? Am I somehow putting the key in wrong or something? No I don't have previously markings on the last key, but I measure it and it was identical in length to the passenger side. So that is what I went off of for bolt depth. I have tried everything. When I lower it, this is the position of the key. The passenger side the key is much further up in the frame. Is this maybe a matter of turning the Torsion bar until the key sits in a different spot maybe?

If I could delete the post, I would. Decided to try one more thing. Crawled under and stared really hard. Operator error not realizing I didn't turn the key ONE more turn clockwise on the Torsion bar. It's all fixed now. I'm going to go have a beer or six now. Mistakes and lessons today....

Enjoy your beers. We've all been there before.

Sometimes the easiest repairs are just walk away and come back, you get to flustered to think right
