Default bed mat preference

I have been looking into getting a bed mat for my '99 dodge Dakota, but I am wondering what style i should get. I have found some rubber and some carpeted bed mats but I was wondering if there was anything i should know about either before I make up my mind. I have a soft low profile roll up tanneau cover and just wanted a little something extra to protect the bed while I have it open and am moving stuff. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Agree with kdh [sm=smiley20.gif]. Spray in would be the best and then I'd go with rubber.

Buy a Bedrug - they're extremely comfortable, they can handle pretty much anything you throw at them, you just hose them down to clean them off, and you can recover about 75% of what you paid for it if it should ever become time to get rid of the truck.

I second the Bed-Rug Idea... That's what I'm going with

It dependes on what you put in the back, hauling say metal sharp objects i would get the spray in because, the bed rug can snag and tear not easily but it can. Also the spray in gives a life time warrenty so it bubbles or starts pealing they will respray it for free. The bed rug lookks great and can handle some hauling but the best thing is it gives your truck a real finished look. Depends on what you want really.

Eh, I got the dealer installed plastic bed liner and it has held up so far. It's not grippy so I can slide stuff in and out easy. It has held up well against quite a few heavy loads.

Take a look at the bed surface UNDER the bed liner. Almost everyone I know that had them said it scratched the truck bed.

I had a rubber mat in my ram when I got it. unfortunately it stuck to a load of debris that I unloaded at the transfer station (dump) and went sailing down into the pit. Oh well. I got it sprayed and I wouldn't have it any other way. My Dakota was sprayed too.
