i have a 1997 RC 4 banger 5 speed. i want to put a V8 in it.....i was told that the 4.7L wont bolt up to my tranny. i want to put the 318 in it...will this bolt up to my trany?...if not, is there any V8 that will bolt up to my 4cyl tranny....

The problem is that most 4-banger trannies are not as strong as their v8 counterparts. I'm not sure if the Dakota 5 speeds are different, but I know in Mustangs the 4 banger tranny won't hold up to a stock v8 for very long. They're lighter weight and not as strong. You're better off getting a v8 engine and tranny assembly together.
