NOOB post, kinda bulky... questions, feelings...
im a big fan of the gen2 dakota clip, and anything involving it. so i have some questions im gonna ask you guys "like you've nothing better to do than answer noob queries, right
" i dont own one, but am riding a bicycle to work in order to make one my first car.
why does the aftermarket for what seems to be a very commercialy successful truck seem so pitiful?
is there an arb style bumper for gen2s?
can a QC hold a good roof rack?without drilling?
is there a mild(2ish inches, highway friendly) performance oriented lift available?
are there any floor mount autos available?
if you put a shell on a QC, can you lay flat in it?(camping)
is there an available engine that you would call a close second to the 4.7?
you guys seem pretty cool, hopefully i havent commited any... faux pauxs...(???)... here. laters.

hey
the dakota might seem, as very successful, it is for its class.. but i'm afraid the fullsize trucks, dominate the aftermarket world, fullsize and jeeps..
yes the quad cab can hold a good roof rack.. no drilling
as for the lift kit, it depends wich year, less than 02, but its only a body lift, i'm not guarantying anything, but i doubt there is a suspension lift that low for the dak, i could be wrong
the floor mount auto, not stock, i've never seen a kit available, to put it on the floor, but if you ask me it can be done
as for the bed its less than 5 feet, so, i would say no for camping in back of it, maybe with the tailgate open, if your not over 6 feet tall
as for the engine, again it depends on the year, but 5.2 is close, i'm not exactly sure what you mean by your question.. but even the 5.9 is a good engine, and well even the 3.7 or 3.9 v6 are still good to go
i'm not sure what exactly is arb, but if it is a full steel flat bumper, than yes..

if you happen to find a 2.5l RUN MY FRIEND, SAVE YOURSELF!!
I got one and the mileage is great but not being able to go more than 80 (downhill, tail gate down, tailwind) sucks
floor mount auto? hmmm...
you can lift it with components like springs, shocks, leafs
arb? off-road?...
go for a yakima rack,

For the Arb front bumper no they dont make 1 for your truck but other companys do and there just as good. Fabtech makes a 2 inch and 3 inch lift for 2wd and 4 wd models and it is basicly spindels to achive the lift so its fairly close stock ride and its for newer year models !!!
cool guys... thanks for the answers!
so...
any engine but the 4banger is decent.
if i want to sleep in a qc bed i'll have to curl,(5,11) or lay diagonal(if theres no gear in it)
all autos on the column...
im gettin the rack from yakima...
as for the lift, i dunno. im just lookin for the space to add (tougher) aftermarket gear. not height. i love how the dakQC looks stock, and most of the big custom jobs ( think 8 inches, with a solid axle conversion) look silly. i dont want to go to far from stock. but will need to for what i want to do (regular outdoors stuff, mnt. biking, search and rescue volunteering, various harsh environs)

If you do mostly general-purpose off-roading, a leveling kit or a 1-3 inch lift with good tires will do you the most good.
you'll not regret getting a dak. mine has 30x9.5 in the front and 31x10.5 inchers in the rear.
i do some rough puddling and field running, great truck
