Hey guys i was wondering if any of you have had this problem and could tell me what it is....

The only way i can get the truck to start and keep running is to keep my foot on the gas. The truck is half as loud as it was before. It almost sounds like something is backing up the exhaust. My buddy thinks its the EGR valve stuck open but i have no idea. The truck is a 98 Dakota V-6..

 

there is no egr on your truck

 

it could be the (iac) idle air control valve, which bolts to the throttle body. or maybe your cat. converter is clogged up.
