higher octane burns hotter, increasing pressure in your chambers.
that creates performance
the higher temp however, after prolonged useage, will cause exessive wear and tear.
putting the fual treatment in with the higher octane will mean your injectors are super clean
and any grime inside probably got torched like a witch in salem

Id go back to the 87 after that bottle of Gumout you put in your tank to see if you can tell the difference. If you need the performance, the 89 wont hurt, but first see if the Gumout helped any. I know whenever i pour a bottle in mine every 10k or so, i can tell a slight difference. If yours had never been done before then those injectors should be nice and clean for the 87 octane. Superchip/hypertech they are basically the same thing. Here is a website to keep an eye on where you can get a new hypertech programmer for significantly cheaper than anywhere ive seen (besides ebay, but i dont trust ebay for items such as these)::-

Looks GREAT, and yes .. certainly MORE affordable. However, I don't see the 2004 4.7L Dodge Dakota in the list. Come to think about it, I didn't see it with Superchip either. Is there a reason why this year, make and model are not displayed?
Thanks for the valued link and information.
