Default Gears

Does anyone have any information about gears they can pass along? I'm iterested in seeing the perks of different kinds of gears and how they affect my truck, but am unable to google anything relevent... Though apparently this stripper named "Misty" can "crank my shaft".. whatever that means :P

Thanks alot guys! (and gals if/where applicable)

the lower the gear (higher number) will give you more acceleration but will make your top sleep lower. Higher gears (lower number) will give you a higher top speed and will help you run lower rpm's on the highway which will give you better milage. 3.55 come in most dakotas. 33 inch tires will call for 4.10 gears if you are going for the offroad approach. and 4.10 are good for drag racing.

Coinsidentally, I do want 33" tires!. So a 4.10 gear will help me go quick and have power for the bigger tires? How will my gas mileage be affected?

The 410 gears will work well with 33 tires,i'm sure mph will be hurt a little with bigger tires and a gear IMO . We have gears and install kits if you need any price checking done send us a email to sales@strippermotorsports.com

Fair enough.

But what should I expect with the larger tires and bigger gear? With the said 33" tires and 4.10 gears, can I still expect more power and speed, or will the larger tires counteract that, so I will have about the same response but with big badass tires?

I'm looking to do up my truck for the following; fast enough for the tracks (me and my buddies like to go race our hogs), tough enough for off roading, and economical enough to drive everyday :P
Nothing to impossible, just the best of everyworld in one :P

You arent really going to gain any power. The 33 and 4.10 will basicly keep your stock ratio. If anything you might lose a little power because of the greater rotating mass of the tires.

Hmmm.. that's not so good... Should I look into a 4.56 then? Would that give me the acceleration I want? And would those work out well with 33" tires? My top speed wouldn't be affected to the point of.. 130km/h (sorry dont know mph value.. i think it's 80 maybe?) not being possible, would it? Not that I would ever drive 130 anyways...

4.56's with 33 inch tires I would think would be like running 3.92's stock. Your gas mileage will be inversely effected whichever way you look at it. Some people pn here will try to tell you otherwise, but lower gears=worse mileage.
