if you'e luck they some company out there might sell a longer shift linkage pre-made that you could just be able to switch out. im actually curious on that myself. im about do another body lift, this time on my 97 dakota and would also like to avoid the welding this time.

Check with Jc Whitney. I know in the books they list weather it needs welding or not. Maybe the web site does also. Not saying that you should or shouldn't buy from them but, atleast then you would know what co. to look for the best price for what brand name of lift.

SOmething else to look into first. Check to see if your state outlaws body lift kits. Some are enacting bans on them.

PersonallyI wouldnt even bother with them. If I wanted a pre-runner look 2wd, I'd just spring for the actual suspension pre-runner kit. Then you wouldnt have that HUGE gap between the frame and body, have to relocate teh radiator, air intake, steering, brake lines, electrical, accelerator cable, shift linkage, bumpers, gas filler tube.....

Honestly I've put a 6" suspension lift kit on a 4x4 S10 faster than I did my friends ram with a 3" body kit.

Also looking for a suspension lift kit for ya (fabtech has a 3" suspension lift from what I found for about 800), been seeing reports of people finding out that body lift kit dont work with 2wd dakotas due to the rack and pinion steering system mountings.
