New Tires HELP!!!
Hi,
I have a 1997 Dodge Dakota Sport that'll be used in N. Kentucky for the majority of it's life. I need to buy new tires for it (size P215 75R15). I mainly drive on paved roads, a dirt/rock road every once in a great while. I do make longer road trips (1,000 mileish) and have a lawn care service as well. During winter, as this is a 2wd truck, driving is HORRIBLE. I'd like to get tires that'll handle the highway usage for long road trips, the heavy breaking with the lawn trailer, and still work well in rain/snow. What do you think I should get?

I live in Indianapolis, IN....and I probably see as much snow if not slightly more then you do. I had an 01 Dakota Clubcab with the 4.7L V8 in it and I ran Kumho Ecsta STX's on my truck. Nice looking tire profile, great in water, low road noise, and werent too bad in snow. I very rarely had traction issues, and this was usually in +6in of snow....but let's be honest, most 2wd RWD trucks would have traction issues at that point.
Kumho's are relatively cheaply priced and can be bought just about anywhere in tire stores. I think I paid $520 for mine installed, but I also had stock 16" wheels and I paid for the road hazard stuff....I would expect 15's to be much cheaper.

I got staggered Trail Mark Radial APR's by Hallmark 31x10.50xR15LT / 30x9.50xR15LT
I live in Northern Ohio and see more than enough snow.
these tires have never failed me in 12+ inches of snow, slush, mud, and are great on highways, very quiet for an agressive tread
I paid $500 installed and I got extra warranties on all four.
I have a 2.5L but drive hard and like to slide, I had to think about putting it into a slip but always had complete control.

This winter I just put a set of Yokohama Geolandar H/T-S on my dakota and I have had great luck with them!
They handled well in the snow, they do great on dry & wet roads. Not alot of roll or pavement noise and
I have towed my camper twice so far and haven't noticed any problem towing 3,100lbs.
Go to TireRack.com they are $72 ea for the 215/75QR15 and they are rated fairly high.
Good luck!
