Big Spare Tire
I've got a '98 Dakota with a 3" body lift and 33" Timberlines. The mods were already done to the truck when I bought it. I just noticed that the OEM spare is hanging underneath. I could get away with using this spare in a pinch but would rather not, for two reasons: 1) the small spare would be hard on the diff and 2) I can't even get the wheel off the winch-hanger -- looks like the crank tube has been removed.
So, the question is this: if I go out and get a spare to match my current wheels, where the heck should I put? I'm pretty sure it won't fit in the bay underneath. Roof rack? Tail gate carrier? I probably only need the spare for longer trips and off road...
Thanks

I'd get a rack that goes directly behind the cab
i've seen 'em where they set in the hook pockets and can just be pulled out when you don't need it but is still very secure

You can fit reasonably oversized tires in the original bay with a little creativity. Granted my 33X12.5 R15 sits in the bay a little ****-eyed, it does still fit under the back of the truck. If you decide to go with a roof or bed mounted tire rack make sure you look into locking devices. Once the wheel and tire are out in the open and more easily seen, they are more apt to get permenantly borrowed by persons unknown.
