So i just got a black 02 dakota SXT 4x4 with really low kms, and for a good price. I would like to get some black rims and slightly bigger tires. What is the largest i can go on a stock truck?
I was looking at these black steel amarican racing rims:

With BFG 31x10.5 a/t's.
The amarican racing rims come in 5, and 4 inch backspacing...which would be better to get? Also what size of rim to get? sorry for the newbie questions but this is my first car and i am new to all of this. Thanks alot guys

I'd go with a 15x8" wheel and 31x10.5 tires. The price difference between the 31x10.5 versus a 265/70 (or whatever it is) 16" tire will most likely make up for the price of the wheels. I know the 15" tires I got were about $40 cheaper, each.
As far as backspacing goes, I don't know but I'd guess 4". You'll want to as somebody who knows for sure though.
Oh, and tires - I was going to get BFG AT's, but the guys at Discount Tire talked me into getting Yokohama Geolandar ATs instead. They were a little cheaper and all of the employees there have them on their own trucks and swear by them. Plus iirc Yokohama has a 30 day trial period where if you don't like them you can return them.

I agree if you go with the 15" rim and tire the price is cheaper all around....
MY old truck I did 15" american racing rims and BF's AT tires for $800-$850 installed
Now I just bought american racing rims 16" for $350 but they sell for $800 Tires cost me $550 and that was a deal also
the BF AT is a great tire I would of gone with them but I wanted the muds for the looks and capabilities.
with the BF's AT I got about 50,000 out of them and they still did good in the trails.

For what I have seen when ever you go up in size the price goes up
I did a 3" body lift and the 33" still rub a little on the front bumper and I even cut the bumper.
I have not done it yet but if you look up about the jacking up torsion bars you can get 2" of height and that might allow the tires to fit

So it seem like i want to go with a 15x8 or 15x7 rim and a 31x10.5 BFG A/T's. The last thing im not sure abotu is the backspacing...ive heard that the more backspacing you have the more rubbing problems you have...Would i still be able to fit this setup with 4" backspacing? If i went with the 15x7 and 4' backspace would it make it easier to fit than a 15x8?

I had an 01 Dakota Clubcab with 16x7's on it....with 265/65/16's for tires....wound up paying about $545 for tires....
The backspacing will all depend on the offset of the rim.....if the offset of the rim is good....then you may not need so much backspacing....
good luck with your purchase....and post up some pictures!
