Default anybody have problems with the 44re?

just curious how this tranny is compared to the piece of junk 46re? anybody have to replace or rebuild theres at all?

There's nothing wrong with the 46re when it's taken care of properly and not abused. It can handle more power than the 44re. [8D]There are people putting quite a bit of power through them in trucks that are a lot heavier than your Dakota without issue

yeah, common sense says: when you take care of anything it will last. but not when guys doing everyday driving are blowin them in 30,xxx. i bought my ram with 50,000 on it changed my tranny fluid regulary never did any towing and it blew at 112,000. the 47re that comes in the 2500, now thats a near bullet proof trans. there is a problem with the 46re regardless of how you drive it, it comes with seals that dry up and harden thus causing the pre-mature slipping, also the torque convertor stops locking up around 70-90,000. this is why you read about rpms suddenly jumping up and down at cruising speeds.
