Default heater/AC fan

2002 dakota.........heater/AC fan only has high speed. could this be the fan resistor. i used to have an older dakota that had a similar problem, and it was the resistor that had to be changed, however it was on the firewall and easy to get to. where the heck did they put in on my 2002?

yes, its the resistor block. its only a $12 part and its located under the dash on the passenger side. takes 5minutes to change.

Funny, the dealer told me the issue was some sort of sending unit and it was an expensive fix....around $800. The first time this broke the truck wasn't two years old (thankfully under warranty). The second time the truck was under 4 years old (with under 30,000 miles) and I had to threaten the dealer before the regional manager offered to fix it for a $50 "deductable".

Sounds like I should find a new Dodge dealer for service as in addition he told me that the klunking" sound in the steering was in the "steering knuckle" and geasing it would make it go away for awhile. Other dakota owners have told me its the ball joints which Dodge upped the warranty to 10 years 100,000 miles.
