This is a 2000 dodge dakota v8. What could be the problem?

 

the first code is almost always a gas cap. the second code is:
Error code P0445
"The PCM has determined that a short circuit condition exists in the electrical circuit for the purge control valve in the evaporative emmission control system"

so check your purge control valve and the connections leading to it. there should be instructions for checking this in your haynes/chiltons manual. if you dont own a manual you should get one immediatly. thats the first step in fixing your own car/truck

 

ok any more input? i'm posting this for a frind, how do you check your Purge Control Valve, i do not want to go buy a chilton for him..
