wtf did you call the police. hit n run is serious. catch the make of the other vehicle. by the looks of the damage the other vehicle might need fixing. if the police know they can search other bobdy shops the the idiot

 

Yeah I called the lovely CHP/911 and they asked is anyone hurt....no....oh ok just go to your local CHP station in the next 5 days and file a report.....and if your vehicle is not driveable call yourself a tow truck.....is there anything else we can NOT help you with?.....
What a waste of time no wonder stuff cost so much here in California.
Well I am not hurt and I am over the shock of having my baby hurt.....so now the body shop called me today they are starting the teardown and GEICO has started with an estimage of $6,100 which will be adjusted up as needed as they find more stuff.
My question is IF this did any damage to the frame rails what should I expect as in will this affect the truck in the future such as towing and driveability? I don't want to get screwed over by the insurance company because they can make it look nice but I want it to be looking and working as good as it was before the wreck.

 

A good body shop can straighten the frame rails, if they were bent, so there shouldn't be any future issues with driving and towing. Judging by the photos, I think you will be safe from frame damage (like you said, Dodge trucks are tough!). Being Canadian, I have never dealt with Geico. But a friend of mine in OK used them, and said that they were gold-plated when it came to repairs after his accident. Sometimes it pays to use a reputable, national insurer, even if it costs a few more pesos.

However, in some locations, the accident will affect the resale value, as body damage/accidents over a certain dollar amount must be declared whenever a vehicle is sold. Even if it is not mandatory, a VIN search by a prospective buyer will turn up the insurance claim. But you're going to keep that beauty a long time, so resale isn't and issue, right?

 

you never know, they might say the damage to the truck is more than its worth, than they would write you a check for book value.as far as the cops i would be pissed. this is one of the reasons we pay taxes. should of complained neck/back injury and they would have done something about it.

 

UPDATE, no frame damage, new bed and tail gate coming today so looks like by next week some time I will back in my baby

 

I now how it feels I have been in 3 accidents in 2 years none my fault
2 hit from behind and one T boned a 900 year old woman.

I had my truck for 2 months and the blue hair pulled out in front of me.
I had to get a new front nose but the car I hit spun around and went of the road.
Her car was toast drivers head rest was touching the passengers head rest.
I was still able to drive mine home.. $5,000 in damage
The crappy part is that at the time I never had a chance to even make a payment.
First payment was done while in body shop….

A little tip if they are fixing it you can order the parts if you want mods made to it instead of going with stock replacements…

I did the grill, hood and clear blinkers at that time….

 

yea if you want to upgrade anything thats being replaced the body shop will charge you whats called a "betterment" where they basicly charge you the difference in price between the stock and aftermarket parts.

 

Wow that sucks!!! where did it happen? glad to hear your ok. getting a new bed is the best way... w/o any frame damage, your truck should be good as new and performing to the same specs as when you got it. (towing and what not).

I got tagged on 6/30 right before the 4th holiday weekend, happend right there at 50/zinfandel. he totaled the ladies car who was on my left and slid into me as he hit her. he ended up under my bumper just scraping it and the bed slightly. Needless to say the ins co is sending me a check this week... which may go to more mods.

It happened close to home on the way to work the morning after the 4th of July so 07/05/2006 I was at the light on Greenback lane on the inside lane turning left onto Hazel to go down to 50 then on into work, I swear sometimes in this traffic here it feels like you are driving inside a pinball game I just want to get an old beater truck take off the plates and run over the morons hehe.....least she is being fixed with a new bed and Golden State Collision does really good work with a life time warranty.

Sorry to hear about your accident, ya should of jumped out on the ground and wiggled around and screamed ambulance.....attorney....etc hehe

I have been in one accident, totally not my fault, a girl backed into on my way to school. Sad thing is she saw my car, hit the brakes, and let off the brakes and ran into me. Sad thing is, I couldn't stop, stupid ice.
