Magnaflow Exhaust
I will probably be buying a magnaflow kit for my 3.9. All of them have 3" pipes are they to big? which of these ones will work the best? and how do i know if i have a shortbed or a long bed?

most kits come with an extension pipe for the long bed. coming from the convertor i belive the piping is 2.0 inch. if you install this system yourself you would need to get a cuopler to accomidate the 2.0 tyo the 3.0 inch. other than that i can tell you i had the dual exhaust set up and it waS NICE, THAN WHEN IT ROTTEN OUT I WENT TO THE SINGLE AND IT DID NOT HAVE THE PEP THE DUALS DID.
Its a V6 so you don't get to much out of it on the performance side, nice looking tip and the sound is prob the best part I think....the Magnaflow the sounds is loud and a bit harsh to me I liked the deeper stronger sound of the Flowmaster but I am sure that is just personal pref., one fact remains because I have been there and done that on my old truck (2003 SXT V6) What I really noticed loosing was the low end power when you take off from a dead stop I had 265's but before the muffler change I could break them loose anytime but after the muffler change you had to work at it to break them loose.
I have a SIDO setup on my 318 and it sounds really nice. As far as performance gains, LIL has it right. They will be minimal at best, Looks and sound are what you are going for now. Good luck, and Enjoy the sound when you get into it!

If you go with the Magnaflow CAT Back system for your truck, the kit will come with an adapter to accommodate the increase from stock (2 1/2") to the 3" provided by the Magnaflow. For the install on my truck (Club Cab) we had to cut a few inches off of one of the pipes to allow for proper fit. This may be because the kit was made for a long bed as well as a standard bed (6 1/2').
I have found this system to have a nice deep mellow tone on my 318 without being excessively loud, and ALL piping and associated hardware and hangars are STAINLESS STEEL.
The other option would be to order a replacement muffler only from Magnaflow. With this option, you can choose a larger or smaller muffler to satisfy your taste in sound, and may save some money depending on whether any other piping or hangars need to be replaced.
I hope this has been helpful.

Will the 3" pipes be to much for the v6? i dont want to lose any power. Would it just be better to get a SI/DO muffler and tips and then have a shop make me some 2.5" pipes? and go 2.5 in and 2.5's out?
3" is definately too much.. try 2.25".. if they don't make the 2.25" I would get the mufflers you want and have a shop do the pipes. I ran 2.25" when I had my V6.

Did you run 2.25 duals? they make the muffler i want in 2.5 in and dual 2.25s out so im thinking thats what i'll get. I have also heard that it might be better to get 2.5 in and have dual 2" out. Also what is the difference between a 14"muffler, and an 18"muffler? thanks
