E...85...who the heck cares
i think an interesting fact that some of you may be missing is that we import 50% of our foreign oil from Canada. if we started using 85% home grown fuel, assuming that we had to import oil at all (Texas) it would be safe to assume that we could buy all we needed from the kanucks up north. canadia in turn imports a vast majority of their goods from the USA. i would have no problem giving them money when i fill up, because they are going to take that money and buy stuff from us anyway

There are still other alternatives, which I think are all better than what we have now.
I work at GM, not that I am supporting their vehicles[:'(] but they have a fuel cell car that has actually been driven.
It's worth a shot.

my whole family on my dads side works for GM, and most of them are laid off. i get a ridiculous discount on GM vehicles but most of them are total crap. as you can already tell i bought a dodge when i wanted a truck and my wife drives a KIA after her 3rd GM took a dump before it hit 100k miles. if they made good cars they wouldn't be in the mess they are in. on the other hand they are now willing to do whatever it takes to get their sh*t together and i think that will benefit everyone in the future
Oh, I hate their cars (with the exception of Saabs and Vettes). I have seen so many with 5+ recalls.
I think they deserve a chance with this one though because it is a completely different car.

You know how much fuel it took to get to the moon?
And really, trucks are heavy and designed to haul twice their weight or more.
PS I'm pretty sure some of the 2wd 4-banger shortbox standard cab trucks from the 80's and 90's could get 25mpg on the freeway.

And I have heard that while we import somewheres around 50-60% of the oil we use, we only import about 20-30% of that from the MidEast (the rest coming from places like Canada).
I'd just love to see us not have to rely on those ba$t@rds in the mideast. I mean, once we stop using their oil, what good will they be? Oil is their living. We'll watch them and their unability to get along with each other, slowly starve away.

It blows my mind, we can put a man on the moon, but we can't make a truck that gets better than 25mpg on the roadways.

and one more bold statement if i may: with the exception of modern fuel injection the internal combustion engine hasnt hardly evolved since we put the man on the moon.. hell you can still change out the intake manifold on any of our trucks and still run on a carb
