alignment?
Hate to say it "but" i've seen a old garage mechanic use 2 by 4's as a guide and just hand wrench it by eyeing it off the 2x4's. He made it work for my old scirocco. somebody tell me its possible so i don't feel like an idiot, plus saving 70$!
umm well me and my friend rob aligned the front end of his ford ranger at home and he just had a wrench and 2 little things that turned so he could drive his front tires up on and be able to turn the wheel back and fourth easily. drive on them straighten you wheel measure the distance between the front sides of your tires and the back sides and from there its a matter of trial and error adjust it slightly the direction it needs to go drive it adjust it again drive it adjust again drive it and yeah it takes about all day long and its a MAJOR pain and its never perfect because you cant just make it the same distance on front and back sides of the tire because they have to be towed slightly for it to handle properly and for the tires to wear correctly so if u ask me just go get it alined save ya a lot of trouble it doesnt cost that much either

You can do it at home, but why bother? Look around for a place that charges a reasonable price ($70 is WAY too much for an alignment). I usually pay $25ish at the local tire place in town.
This whole tread gives a new meaning to "shade tree mechanic" you go right ahead and do your alignment at home but I would trust this more to a pro I think there is a reason they use a rack and lasers to do the alignment and not eyeball it.......ya will know you didn't do a good job when you let go of your steering wheel and your truck turns for you.......auto turn hehe have fun
It takes a lot of expensive percise equipment to do a alignment, more then you have in your garage. I dont know about you, but id rather pay the 60 bucks and know its done right rather then me guessing if its good or not. maybe i should just replace my ball joints with my hands 2.
