ive never heard of it. why dont you check the code, turn the key on and off 3 times without starting the truck and a light will flash, count the number of times it flashes to get the code and go look up the code.

Yep same exact thing happend to me as soon as i hit 1/8 of a tank BOOM check engine light came on and so did the gas light and the check engine light wont go back off so i went and had the code cleared and the light went off well then i got to my next 1/8 of a tank and the stupid thing did it again. the back o2 always either comes up bad or it comes up a bad cat so we replaced both and it still does it so we just put an O2 Simulator on it and the check engine light stayed off for 2 gas tanks and it came back on this time just outa no where it wasnt even at 1/8 but we ran the code scaner and its still reading back o2 sensor bad so if you ever figure out anything with this there are other ppl that are havin the same problem any help would be apreciated. thats all i know about it though

Is the gas cap on securely? I've heard of a poor seal at the gas cap throwing codes, especially as fuel gets low. I usually turn the cap at least 3 clicks. You might want to try a different cap if available. Just a guess. Good luck.

Well after 3 days my light went off. I checked the gas cap many times it was on. I even went a far a undoing the battery but the light stayed on. Funny thing is I was going to autozone to get the code read and the light went offf soon as i got in the truck.

Did you check the code? Is it possible that you've got water or something bad in your tank, then when it gets low you get a misfire or some other combustion problem?
