Default bouncing idle is driving me nuts!!! help!!!

The idle has been bouncy since i got the truck in may and i cant figure it out.

there is an engine code for small evap emissions leak and power steering pressure. i know the high pressure ps hose is leaking and i think the other one could be my gas cap. its an aftermarket one that doesnt fell like its on that good ... could either of these be making my idle crazy.

i did the whole electrical checking in the book with the throttle position sensor and it passed all the test so its fine. it bounces from normal idle to about 1300-1500 rpms randomly, it does it for a a while then sometimes it doesnt. when im at a stop light if my foot isnt on the brake hard enough it will want to lunge forward. kinda scary

What else could it be????

joe

thanks

ps anyone know where i can get the O/D button for the shifter, dealer wants $27 for it. any online cheap places

Default RE: bouncing idle is driving me nuts!!! help!!!

I dont know if this will be much help, but my dads old car use to do that, somtimes it would rav up or down, and sometimes die on him. All we did was replace the EGR valve and sensor and the altinator (sp? lol) and the car stopped doing it. Mine jumps like that from about 500-2k rpm idleing, but i think thats just from the cam and ****, but mine doesnt lung forward or try to.. maybe somone else here might be able to give you some more info. Im just saying from past exp. thats what me and my dad did and it stopped, but that was also on a ford escort. So it might not be the same.
