highest miles on a DD
299635 on my 98 5.2L 4X4. I feel pretty comfortable that the 3 will show up as the first digit on the odometer next week. Intake gasket was replaced years ago by a recall, otherwise engine and tranny have not been touched. Once I get to 300K, it will be for sale, and my 06 QC will become my daily driver.
Bought my 1999 dodge dakota sport in 2001 with 89,000 km (55,000 miles), today she has 310,000 km (192625 miles). Other then regular maintenance, no engine problem, no tranny problem, no differential problems, etc., etc.,......
Hello Folks: Have 2000 Dakota, 3.9, 2 wheel drive with 241K on it. Has not seen anything but a synthetic oil since 30k. Bought it new. Down only about a half quart between oil changes(even 7K). Original drive train and tranny. Just recently having a slight misfire on #4 according to the trouble codes. Thinking it might be a bad plug wire or injector. Changed all plugs, cap and rotor look good. Runs smooth for the first 15-20 seconds upon a cold start and starts to rough idle after that when warm. Runs smooth and has normal power when driving. Might be a stuck EGR? Was that used on this model/year? Rough idle and #4 misfire might not be related- but rather separte issues. Please let me know of any feedback or comments anyone has.
Thanks
Thanks
I just rolled over 261,500 on my '00 Dakota 4x4 with a 4.7.
It is the original engine, transmission, and transfer case.
This weekend, I put a set of head gaskets on it since it had developed a crack in the gasket material between #7 cylinder and the adjacent water jacket.
I actually have a 4.7 HO that I just rebuilt, another tranny/transfer case with 34k on it sitting in the shop and was actually going to replace the whole mess when something bit the big one.
However, the truck still gets around 18 mpg with the cracked headgasket and the tranny shifts fine so I decided to just replace the headgaskets on both sides and see if I can get another couple of hundred out of it.

My Dakota just rolled over 238K. Motor has about 90K on it, tranny around 175K..
My B2 used to be my daily driver, it's got 251K, original 2.9 had 245K when I pulled it and the 4.0 in it now has 190K.
