hey guys....i have a 99 dakota 2wd 3.9.......for some reason my steering wheel will like "click" or something every now and then, usually when im making a turn. its very hard to describe it but it's almost like there is play in the steering wheel itself but the steering is very tight.....i dunno. if anyone can figure out what im tryin to say, (lol) any input is appreciated.

 

Ball joints possibly? Before I had my recall taken care of on mine it threw my steering whell off to the right 2 inches.

 

My '99 did the same thing. Started when it had around 20k miles. I checked everything, dealership couldn't find anything. Just kept getting this occasional click when turning like the something shifted a 1/4". Dang thing went away around 40k miles and never came back. Go figure. To this day, I have no idea what it was.

yea mine has 70k...but i just got it a couple months ago so im not sure how long its been doing it....doesnt feel like anything too serious tho

 

Mine does the same thing. Turning the wheel from stop to stop it will "click" 6 times.

 

I think it's something with the connection at the firewall. Mine does it trying to push the steering wheel up and down with the tilt locked in place. I think this is the tsb issue I found on other sites. No safety issue to my knowledge. Just a noise.
