Just noticed that my power steering pump seems to be squeaking more than it has. It's more noticeable in the mornings. Can't tell if it's just the belts or not. Is this something that I need to worry about.??

is it the belt squeaking or the pump? check the power steering fluid level and check that the belt tensioner is working properly.

 

I just stuck my head into the engine bay this morning before work and didn't spend a lot of time. It just seems that the noise is coming from the pump area. Also noticed that when I make left hand turns, the pump makes that same sound you get when you overturn.

sounds like a fluid level issue or the pump is going bad. how many miles on the truck?

 

the truck is 99 V-6 with about 120000 kilometers (75000 miles)

Yup mine is leaky I get the same thing minus the squeak. I have to top it off once a month right now and need to get it fixed after I get to Reno.

 

look around on ebay or even go to a junk yard. either way, it will be a lot cheaper than going to the stealership.

 

checked the fluid at lunch and it's fine, just slightly below the "hot" full mark.

 

mine did the same thing, i had a loose hose so i replaced the hose and replaced the fluid and it stoped. Mine was making a squeling noise when i turned and when i started the truck.

But just replace the fluid and that should help or the hose.
