i have a 2000 dakota sport 4x4 and the front axle makes a grinding noise when in 2 wheel drive only.if i shift in to 4 hi or 4 lo it stops.it also seems like its not ingageing into 4 wheel drive. the light on the dash lights up slod but only the rear wheels will brack lose.also can you tell me what my gear ratio is on this pick up. thank you for your help

 

May be losing a front hub.


Mine went bye bye last week. Really overpriced replacement part (I replaced BOTH on my old 4wd sonoma for what 1 costs for a dakotoa 2wd)

 

your gear ratio should say inside your glove box.

thank you rp that thought did cross my mind too.ive only had this pick up for about 4 mounths nowand i really like it. could use a little more power tho it has the v 6 in it with a 5 speed manual tranny. i do plan on instaling many up grades to her as i get the time and money to do so
