Default squeal

i have a problem. usually when i start my truck up and it is still cold i get a horrible squealing noise coming from the engine. its coming from around the belt area but i dont think it is the belt itself. once the truck gets warmed up the noise goes away. im not to sure what it is and dont really know where to start. ne ideas?

Why don't you think it's the belt?

first rememdy would be change the belt, my guess is when the belt sits overnight, it loses its seat in the groves of all the accessories.... but after you start the truck up, the belt warms up and reseats itself... this sounds like the belt expands and contracts with temprature difference.. dont think so but... try a new belt first before u go replacing components like crazy

It is your belt I bet ya......I hear people with loose/old belts take off from a stop light and hear that all the time and just giggle wondering why they don't get a new belt then realize maybe they don't know it is the belt at all.
