Default Thinking about selling my 99 Dakokta R/T

I'm just curious to see what you people would give/ think I would get for my truck. I've had the truck for about 7 months now, and I love it, but gas is killing me and so is insurence, so I was thinking about selling it. I just wanted to get an idea of what I should sell it for, or what you think I could get.

ok, its a 1999 Dodge Dakota R/T Black with Red decals
- When I bought the truck it had around 115,550 miles on it, it has alittle over 124k now but just about all my driving is highway, or to and from work which is like 2 miles from my house. I take very good care of the truck, I've changed the oil 4 times since Ive gotten it, and it also has new spark plugs. The engine runs very very strong and has no leaks.

- It has one small dent on the drivers side that is probably popable, but I never got around to doing it, it was there when I bought the truck. As for the rest of the truck overall it looks really nice, but does have its share of little scratches here and there, just as the same as any 7 year old vehicle.

- It has full exhaust: Gibson Shorty Headers, custom y-pipe w/o cat, and Gibson dual sport cat-back. I have to say that this truck has a very deep and aggressive tone too it, people will know your coming. ( since there is no cat, it does throw a check engine code, but it can be cleared with most programmers, although I recommend mil elimators.) It also has a mopar cold-air intake.

- I bought a superchips programmer for it, it requires 91 octane, but there is a noticable difference and is worth the high test gas.

- So all in all the truck has full exhuast, cold air intake, and a tune (I'll just give the programmer to who ever buys the truck, its also good for reading trouble codes and clearing them, and it has 3 different kind of tunes, 87 tune, towing (requires 91^ octane), and performance (requires 91^ octane) but this will only clear the trouble codes for the lack of 02 sensors TEMPORARILY, it will come back on, in which case you can just clear them again. Or buy the mil eliminators to stop them completely.

- There is also 18 months left on a 2 yr or 24,000 miles bumper to bumper warranty Ive put a little less then 10,000 miles on the truck so your looking at 18 months or 14,734 miles (it covers everything but fluids, and stuff that is effected by general wear and tear)

- I'm just looking for offers, or just opinions too, so feel free to comment or offer me a price.

- If you have any questions, email me at matts8602@hotmail.com

here are some pictures, not the best Quality, but if your interested I will take more

Careful selling after only 7 months of ownership! You have what - 5 or 6 payments under your belt? Unless you had a big down payment or paid cash outright, you will lose more by selling now than paying higher gas and insurance for a longer period. Car salesmen would say you are seriously upside down in 98% of these scenarios...

if at all possible hang onto the truck until spring, some kid that just graduated high school would love to have this truck. not only would this truck be great for a 408 rebuild but the body sounds solid. these trucks are legends, you can do so much internal work to the engine compared to the 4.7 which i have. but if you need to sell it quickly sell it for what you paid for it. if not take it off the road and buy a beater for about a grand.

Yeah I get what you guys are saying. I dont owe much at all...I could actually pay it off in a year or so if i wanted too. I was looking to get at least 9,000 although Id take less...the dealership I bought it from had it listed for 12,000 but I talked them down to 9,000 and with the way I've taken care of it I feel its worth just as much as I paid for it.

you never get hardly any money for upgrades to a vehicle. if you want to get your money back on those its much better to put back the stock parts and sell the upgrades seperate. for instance my truck had a $3000 stereo in it, and a $1000 bed shell. i still paid blue book for that truck in good condition. those upgrades made me more likely to buy THAT truck but i wasnt willing to pay MORE for it. some people would even immediatly discredit purchasing that truck all together when they see the engine upgrades. they will assume that the truck was driven hard and raced often. the best thing to do would be to see if you can find what a truck like that is going for locally, pickups run high here where i live and it might be the same for you. figure on selling your truck for just about the middle of what the other trucks sell for.

im in the same boat. I can't afford paying $600/month for insurance, the gas doesnt bother me at all it's just insurance payments and the loan payments that are almost paid off. I was thinking on sellin mine a while ago when my insurance sky rocketed, but now I drive it in the summer and park it at the shop in the winter. and just buy a $500 winter beaters and hope they will last the winter. and this way it will keep the miles down on it too.

this winter I'm gonna have a 1984 chrysler 5th ave. I cant wait.

yeah I get what you people are saying, I didnt mean I deserve what I paid because of the upgrades, I'm saying I deserve what I paid becuase I took care of it, and I didnt beat on it...the only difference between when I bought it and now is the miles which like I said are mostly highway.....but I have an offer for 7,500 right now Im going to wait for more.

you should be happy to get around $8k - $8.5k. i wouldnt expect too many people to pay more than that for it. furthermore, it sounds you have some great mods on that truck. if i were you i would hang on to it and buy a POS car for the winter. $500 can get you a small FWD car that will get you through a winter or two no problem.

yeah I really like the truck, and I love how it sounds...I'm not in any hurry to sell it, but if somebody came to me with 8 grand I'm going to have a hard time turning them down.
