Ok - I'm also a 5.0 guy and 65-70mm single port throttle bodies are common for fairly modified 5.0s. Yeah, when you get forced induction or nitrous then an 80+ is better, but for a n/a setup the 70 is fairly big - we're talking well over 300hp. My 5.0, with F303 cam, performer heads, full catless exhaust, cai, power+ intake manifold, and 65mm maf and tb is making somewhere between 330 and 350hp.

It's not the maximum potential opening that I was referring to, as much air as your engine can injest really is good. What I'm talking about is your off-idle response. If you have a pipe with a dinner plate sized lid and one with a garbage can sized lid, which one is going to allow more precise control of airflow for around-town driveability? Huge honking TB's are great for drag racing, not so much for low-throttle operation.

I would be wary of "overclocking" your injectors though. Sounds like a recipe for disaster. Get a wideband A/F system installed so you can monitor your mixture. Injectors have a specific pressure range they're designed to work in, by cranking the pressure up I would think you're going to prematurely wear them out. General concensus on the 5.0 is that the stock 19 pound injectors are good for about 300 horsepower. What size injectors come stock in the 4.7?

good job on your 5.0, but I could care less. if I ever feel the need to become a vanilla ice look-a-like I'll let you know. until then I'll go with the stats from Dodge and Mopar.

also I never stated what it was used for, on-road, off-road, drag strip, garbage hauler... I do have the 4.7 HO intake manifold and cams from mopar, (injectors are rated up to 25lbs.) roller rockers from SoCal Dakota, underdrive pully, jba headers, 3' pipe from the headers back, super 40 muffler, custom 'Y' pipe with one high flow cat instead of two, superchip power programmed, posi- trac... you get the idea.

maybe next time tell us what you all have done to your motor BEFORE you ask about a 70mm tb so people dont think your putting it on a stock motor with little or no mods.

How old are you James, about 17? Have you put your Dakota on a dyno? Do you really know what good those mods have done for you? I'm guessing at most you're about 40hp better off than factory. In another post you said you haven't done any head/cam work. What you've got is a motor with a bunch of bolt ons and a good exhaust that might be a bit on the large side considering the output of your motor.

Do you honestly think that there is any difference in theory between Ford and Dodge motors? Or Subaru, Mazda, BMW, etc.? Nope. Your engine can pump X amount of air through it, going too large on the intake OR exhaust side will have negative repercussions. You say that the injectors are "rated up to 25lbs" in this post, but before you said you were told that they could be pushed up to that point by using an aftermarket pump and/or fuel pressure regulator. Just because they can, does not mean it's a good idea or that they should. Factory spec is what, 16 lbs? Don't you think that perhaps there is a reason that they're rated for a certain flow?

You might want to check your attitude a bit kid, your ignorance is showing.

everyone is fighting in here lately. including me. i say go with the tb and see what your results are. we can all learn something. as far as talking so badly to horatio, give it a rest. he is a top notch guy and is very knowledgeable when it comes to mopars. sit back and listen to him and you might learn a thing or two.

I think his uses a diffrent TB 70mm is huge if its a duel hole TB, but im thinking itd a single, if so then thats actually pretty good, big for a single is like 80mm or 90mm, big for a dual hole tb is like 55mm thats a 408 tb on a 360, and yes i can tell you all about un even moding. I have big injectors and im running way to rich, thats the main reason why im getting a bigger TB, with my cam and headers and injectors it should even out the air to fuel ratio and i shouldnt be running rich anymore.

After i put my tb on im thinking of getting the trucked tuned also. At my local shop. I ran a dyno before all this and got 266rwhp im going to do a dyno after all this tuning and upgrades and see what kind of diffrence it makes.
i am looking forward to seeing the results of your dyno run! i am being honest and not trying to be an *******!

Thanks Chris

Young or old, male or female, it doesn't matter, I'm here trying to help guide towards the right parts, buying items and then having to replace them with something else really sucks. I've done it before, I'll likely do it again, so if I can help others avoid my mistakes all the better. You make a good point though, why don't you tell us what you're goals are before asking about parts.

I currently own 2 mopars, I owned a 4.7 WJ for a few years, I spent a lot of time in and under an old Caravan, I've been a mopar guy pretty much my whole life. The 5.0 is a means to an end - namely a Miata with 3-4 times as much power as stock. I'm a car guy who prefers Mopars, but I'm not biased against other makes who have a better product for a given need.
