Default Tires for lifted 99 4x4

Hey everyone, I have a 99 4x4 5 sp. 3.9L that i bought about 6 months ago. It came with a suspension lift on it, which makes the ride very bumpy unless im hauling something in it. The tires on it appear to the stock BFG radials, and are in desperate need of replacement. When i had a flat a while back i lowered the spare off the winch under the bed, and it was a p265, i believe the ones on the truck are p235 (they dont say on them, and the spex sheet that came with it is obviously wrong since it says i have a 22 gallon tank but i hit low fuel drive for another 30 miles and then it only takes 16 max) here is my current problem... i would like to get bigger tires, most likely p265 since i know they will fit, however in the city i get around 12 or 13 mpg, and highway i get around 17 or 18. Also, the v6 works pretty hard as it is, i wish i knew a way to get it to perform better without spending thousands, but thats just not going to happen. What size do you guys think i should get, and which brand? Im not trying to spend a whole lot here, just some decent all season tires. i really just want to know if anyone else has put p265s on a v6 so they can tell me how much it slows them down and how much worse the gas mileage is. Also, does anyone know how much it would cost to get the computer reprogrammed for different tires? sorry for the long post, just trying to explain my situation fully.

I have a 97 dakota with a 3 inch body lift also with a V6 and i can fit 33's with alittle cutting. I had 31x10.5x15 before i got the 33's and they worked just perfectly the were all terrians and now i have maxxis buckshots and i like them well. But the downside you can deffinitly feel the bigger tires on the V6. I didnt notice that much different in the mileage probably 1 or so.

thanks for the input...did you have all of your mods before you got the bigger tires? if not, did the tires slow you down a lot? also, just out of curiousity, would you say that together your mods dramatically increased performance? by dramatically i mean a noticable difference. thanks again, anyone else have larger tires on a 3.9?

No actually the day I got my truck i switched the tires on the stock rims then i went to the eagles. Then i got my exhaust then intake. I mean you can deffinitly tell they are there but slow me down not really or dramatically. I would say the mods helped my performance a little but not dramatically
