Default Accelleration squeel

I have a 98 Dakota 4x4 w/lift 5.2L and recently noticed that when I accellerate, I hear a high pitch squeel almost like the brake indicator when it's time to replace your pads. It seems to be more noticeable when going up hill and accellerating[:@]. A friend mentioned something about a torque converter? I was also told my tire(s) are cupped, and it just lacks power it seems like. Any suggestions where I can take it to get it checked out. I'm near the Escondido area.
Thanks for any input.

check your belt and belt tensioner for the squealing, i would bet on belt slippage. as for the power i would bet that you never had a tune up and are overdue, the stock 5.2 makes decent power when its running properly. did you just buy it?

i wouldnt put it past me its the torque converter...im pretty sure it isnt your serpintine belt cause your losing power... and that torque converter is slipping badly... which means its all messeed up.. most likely contaminated and sen your transmission to hell too... if you just bought it... back to that person who owned it.... otherwise... your looking at around $3000 for dealer work, torque converter and tranny.... go to cottman transmissions... have them check it out.. http://www.cottman.com/ .. i beleive you can have them put stronger parts into the transmission if/when they do an overhaul on it
