Default Helicoil install

I originally asked about the helicoil in another post and ended up installing one. For those who might one day need to install one, I thought I would do a crappy write up about it. I however will leave out all that is covered by a haynes or chilton.

1. Grab a beer [sm=icon_cheers.gif]

2. Grab your Helicoil kit and Letter U Drill bit. They come seperate.

3. Drill out stripped caliper mount hole. Pay attention and stay level and straight.[sm=bangbang.gif]

4. Re-Tap caliper mount hole. I think you can do it from either side, but I decided to do go through the same side the bolt would screw into.

5. Install coil into re-tapped hole. Screw the coil onto the little black install thingamajig, then screw into tapped hole.

6. Follow manual to finish install of caliper as normal. [sm=signs003.gif]

**If an admin could fix those pics that would be...um...great..*****
