Default suspension lift

hey yall im new to this site and im not sure if this topic has been brought up before. I have a 01 dakota and i want to add a suspension lift to it, but the only company that makes a suspension lift for my truck is rancho because of the new steering they put in after 99. i heard that if i swapped out the steering from a 99 or older dakota same body style i can use a lift from the older dakotas. any input would be helpfull.

welcome to the forum! we would need to know the cab size, motor size, and if it is 2wd or 4wd.

Yeah it doesn't really matter - the 4x4's only choice is Rancho.

IIRC there's no reason why you couldn't use a different lift if you swapped the steering gear.

Well shaun if you're looking for just a little lift you can do a torsion lift up front with a shackle lift in the rear. It is good for 2 inches and best of all is well under $100.

i bought my 99 4x4 5 sp. v6 about 6 or 7 months ago and it came with a suspension lift on it. i personally love how it looks, but to me it ruins the suspension. i suppose i dont know what my truck was like before the lift, but when driving around town in Duluth MN on the hills and bad roads, on a regular basis i get thrown around in the cab. Any ideas how to help this? i have tried adjusting the torsion bars but that didnt seem to make things any better. anyone else have this?

My 98 Durango rides much stiffer now that i cranked the torsion bars 1.5" and put 33x12.50s on it. I dont care for the ride at all now...and i havent even put the add-a-leafs in yet!! The only thing i can come up with for the worse ride is the mild cranking of torsion bars and the increased stiffness in the sidewalls of the 33s vs 31s perhaps. This may apply to you.

Im going back down to 31's and lower my torsion bars back i guess as i can think of no other way to get my ride back and have a lifted Dodge at the same time. If i wanted a crappy ride id have a vehicle other than a newer Dodge...like an old jeep or something. If anyone else has any other suggestions im game.
