changing diff oil
osteodoc posted a diff fluid change in DIY section and I was wondering if this is the same procedure for the dak.
What do you guys use for fluid? and how much, it's always bugged me that the filler cap is just a rubber plug, has anyone tapped that hole out and put a bolt there? (I just bought a boat and I don't like the thought of having to change my diff oil everytime I launch it)

I don't know about that DIY, but its super easy to change your diff fluid. Go get a haynes or Chilton (which everyone should have one anyway). Its so easy I do not know why someone would even waste time with a DIY write up.
Changing it is easy. I put an old 5/16" steel fuel line on the end of the hose of my suction pump. Suck it out of the hole with the rubber plug, and put it in an old washer fluid jug. I use Mobil 1 simply because it was the only brand at Fleet Farm that had the exact viscosity recommended in my owners manual. I have no signs of the oil getting out of that rubber plug... and if no oil is getting out, no water is going to get in there. I'd be more worried about water getting in the seals at the ends of the axle. In other words, don't worry about it. Dodge recommends you change that oil every 15,000 miles, right?
i used to change mine at the recomended mileage and it would look brand new, but there would be a little sludge at the bottom that i scraped out with my hand that i don't think a pump would remove. i suggest taking the plate off if your going to do it. they say unless your sumbmersing it in water you really don't need to change it very often or if at all. oh and go synthetic.
