Is it possible to change it without totally pulling the black box from the firewall? Id really hate to disconnect my ac and have to get it charged
Nope. Some of the screws are hidden in the back.

It does gpz. If I have to change another one, I'm modifying the box so I can remove it without tearing the truck apart.

Holy crap. Is that whats involved to change a heater core!?!?!?
i did one in an ford ranger that took me 6 hours and i knew exactly what i was doing with all the correct tools.
What year ranger? cause i did one in my old 88 ranger with a 2.9L and it took about 15 mins. I think it was only 5 screws and 2 hose clamps.

More than likely it was a 95 or newer. My 83's was a 15 min job also. My 92 SOnoma took a half hour. But these damn engineers dont even think about a $30 replacement part shouldnt cost $800 in labour to replace. Not everyone has time, nor wanting to spend that kind of money at a dealer (if they even have one in their area) nor the mechanical ability to safely remove a dash.

Well hopefully I can change that a bit. I'm currently going through school to bea Mechanical Engineering Technologist. Maybe I can knock some sense into these booksmart only engineers. You don't really know anything until you do it yourself.
