Wow I have been checking auto trader and missed that one.

I have heard the transmissions in the 01 are better matched to the motor and have an extra gear.

I will be calling them in the morning. PRice is steep for on 00, but it looks clean. Mileage is very low.

Thanks

Good point, the 00 seems to have either a 42RE or 46RE (I'd wager the 46 behind the v8, and 42 behind the 6), whereas the 45RFE showed up in 2001 with the slick 2nd 2nd gear.

How important is it that it has the bench front seat?

Seat is a deal killer.

I do have 4 kids, but I doubt it would ever be used. That option is just a compromise I loose on. I get 4x4 a V8, she gets a bench seat.

I am very picky. I don't buy vehicles very often. Color is important, but not a deal killer. Price needs to be under 15.

Here is the best deal going, but it's a 5.9. Feedback?

I myself will be in the market for a Dakota QC 4WD in a year or so, but i have to have a manual trans. And i have to have that bench front seat too. I think that 5.9 should serve you very well- so i would not hold out for the 4.7. With the auto and the 4WD, you need the extra cubes, and the 5.9 is simpler and easier to work on. Myself, i will getting the 4.7 because of the manual trans. Obviously i think you are making a great choice here- what a nice truck!

On this specific add- the dealer is advertising this truck with bucket seats- since he priced this truck with bucket seats- you should ask for another $200.00 or so discount because the dealer cant seem to tell bucket from bench seats! hahahaha LOL Also, the mileage is very good with the truck you are looking at.

Arent these web sites like autotrader and ebay great- us used folks can "dial in" or "special order" just about any vehicle we want! Long as you are willing to drive- my wife and I drove to Houston, TX (from Kansas City) to get our Jeep Grand Cherokee two years ago- equipped exactly as we wanted, and we love it!

That ad looks to be a pretty good deal. If you could get him down on that price a little, you might have yourself a winner. It has seen no aftermarket performance parts, which is always a good indication. It seems to have a usual amount of milage for the year. Good motor/tranny combo, what else could you ask for? Make an offer a couple of grand lower than that and see what they have to say. What do you have to lose?
